Graveyard Hearts

Graveyard Hearts

A Poem by Samantha ~virginpoet

My heart
has always
been glass

My wars
and my words
have always
been lost

My arms
are lonely

My lips withered
with no kisses

They've always been
and even more so now

If my head isn't down
there is nothing guarding
this bulls-eye on my chest

I could again
injure my hands

To stop what's to come

Or just let it go through

There's my heart
on the tip of his arrow
of deeds done
and words
not said

I have
a grave yard
heart

Where I bury
hatred
revenge
pain
betrayal
and all
of sorrows
reaping

6 feet deep
I smother
catacombs
of suffering

I wish I could
inflect the pain you
so carelessly instilled in me

But no amount of revenge
will suffice short of torture
to reap what he has sewn

When in reality
he had a grave yard
growing in his chest
he opened enough
to drag me down
to the pits
of his hell
to wallow
in his pain

I plant
the seeds
of love

To fill this
wounded man

I can now see
beyond my pain

To truly love me
he had to break me
so we could mend as one

You touched my heart and it broke into a million pieces

This is a dark love poem ... We are not alone in love and pain when 2 people share scars they are one his broken pieces fit mine perfectly thus repairing the damage

I do believe that this is probably one of the best poems you have ever wrote. You paint the picture with PERFECT imagery. It almost makes the reader feel like they were the one who wrote it... At one time in every persons life feels this way. It's all in how you bounce back from it. Sometimes you heal and sometimes you don't... Sometimes your left with scars other times your left with a scar on your heart that no one but you can see... Great job girl

Pain and love are a married pair that both interject with equal voice in our daily lives. We all live in a state of balance with these issues and yet with pain comes the love so we wake up the next day and go at it all over again.

Outside my kids, I can only say I love one other person with an intensity and integrity (her words not mine) and yet know she is in her own place, so in love, I have the pain of knowing I am not the one to say goodnight to her, but it comes from someone she adores so in turn, I love her more knowing she is somewhere safe and with love.

It's all I can ask for her and while we can not see the future I hope she sees more love than pain regardless my role in things.

Kudos here with this piece - one of your best for sure.

Awwww!! This is beautiful! Love is a beautiful thing and when people grow and mend together to become one heart and one soul, it is really the most beautiful thing on this earth. Treasure it forever. Fight for it on days when you both seem to be tearing apart. I hate to see people throw love away so carelessly. Beautiful write, dear! xo (:
