Love Drenches Me

Love Drenches Me

A Poem by SuttonSheridanPoets
"

'lived there until your eyes met mine'

"
store room lilacs

like rain in a morning dream
halfway home
love drenches me

splashing through puddles
hands held tight
we get caught in a warm,

wet deluge

i drink your love and become
intoxicated
as i watch the
sunlight erase
the dark and
the gray

the dark and the gray
where i owned
nothing

where i walked the
empty streets of

objects

listened to lifeless souls
in empty rooms
full of ashes

where answers only existed
in storm drain exits

lived there until your
eyes met mine

then, like sunlight, your love
walked through a half
opened window

touched me like light touches
store room lilacs sitting in a
pulled

out drawer

their smell climbs up to your
lips to kiss, to seek me

they caress
they enfold

so intimate your hand upon my chest,
my heart,

so intimate that when I fall asleep your
eyes close

i love you.
