Just Another Shade of Red

Just Another Shade of Red

A Poem by ac4st3r

The nights start getting colder

Look back upon the year

Rehear all those things

That you didn’t want to hear

Flick back through the pages of your life

Stumble across etchings of trouble and strife

But soon the snow will cover the stained battleground

That was the heaviest, deepest, darkest shade of red

The echoes of voices flew away with the leaves

And when the flakes begin to fall

They slowly bury the fear and the pain

The heaviest, deepest, darkest shade of red

Seems to fade, the fire shrinks in the rain

The heaviest, deepest, darkest shade of red

The most deathly pain you’ve ever felt

Stakes that bind you to bloodstained ground slowly melt

Turning the right way, you see a better day

And hope through hell it’s here to stay

You know a revolution is creeping closer

But now you must adapt to the new, you say

You’re now so used to it, it doesn’t even hurt

But nothing can take the sting away...

As something seeps through the snow, you see

It’s just another shade of red
