Clocks & Calendars

Clocks & Calendars

A Poem by ac4st3r

What do I appear to have achieved?

In a year, in a year

How do I appear to have changed?

In a year, in a year

I’d give anything to have that choice

Another day, another time

I’d give everything to hear that voice

Another day, another time

I’m running again, running from running

On the line, that isn’t mine

I’m running faster from something cunning

On the line, that isn’t mine

Have I carved out my victory?

Or is it all contradictory?

The moment I’m safe, I’m back in the spotlight

On the line, that isn’t mine

Are they hoping that I do alright?

On the line, that isn’t mine

I don’t know if you’re being cruel

Another day, another time

If there’s a rule, teach me that rule

Another day, another time

Time’s flying while I’m still holding on

To something that is so far gone

And this is the life you’d love to lead?

I say don’t leave me, and that’s not greed

I just wish you knew what’s stayed

With me for a year, with me for this year

I don't usually like repetitive poems, but this one drew me in, and it all flowed beautifully :) I can see this being sung as a song or slam poetry :)

Over all I like it, this piece has a fast pace flow to it and is very repetitive. Different from what I've read in the past, but good.
