Voice Lost Among the Raindrops

Voice Lost Among the Raindrops

A Poem by Whitney Kleinhuizen

Tears that are unable to fall, locked deep within
find a hidden release among a steady, cold rainfall.

Kissing the forehead, caressing the curves of the face,
rain dances upon the surface before falling onto the earth.

One raindrop loaded with one hundred meanings and full of many secrets,
emotions that can drown the soul and extinguish the fragile light of life.

The drops of water, pulled deep within dry soils in need of revival,
vanish quickly into the ground as if they were never even there.

Leaving not a trace behind but only that of an unspoken promise,
the promise of its return some other day, some other night.

A time where a sunless sky will crack and crumble,
all from above will break wide open and fall apart,
and the icy drops of rain will silently speak once more.

Author's Note

Whitney Kleinhuizen
Something a bit different from my usual types of writing. The rough inspiration of it happened while I was standing out in the rain at night smoking a cigarette. Figured I'd play around with it and see what happens. Not sure how I feel about it though...

this was different, but I liked it a lot. Nice inspiration if your just outside smoking, but I think that's what's cool about it. That us, writers, can draw inspiration from anything.

Whitney, my dear, you never write something that doesn't simply blow me away. Every single piece of yours that I read leaves me wondering what in the world you'll write next. I feel like you could use the same topic and write 15 poems about it, with no trouble at all. You never fail to amaze me, gorgeous. This piece is different, and that's only one thing I love about it. It's so beautiful, just like the mind of its writer. Lovely job, as always. xo

About
I write out of expression. I don't know all the "rules of writing" and quite honestly don't really care. I write what I know. I write what I feel. I write beyond the eyes. I write from the heart. A.. more..
