Would It Make A Difference?

Would It Make A Difference?

A Poem by Ian Faraway

Would it make a difference if I said
I wanted to protect your heart with my love
Instead of saying anything to get you in bed
You should know, I'd fight for you if push came to shove

But I'm a lover who hates to fight
Though I will shield you from any pain
Cheer you on when you take your flight
I want to be the warmth in the cold rain

But does it make a difference?

For all I know there is another
Who holds your heart close to him
Or maybe you think I am a bother
Judging me with a hidden grim

I pray it's neither and you think of me fondly
When you leave my life to travel amongst the stars
Having your heart is a dream only on me
But you should know how precious you are

Because, to me, it makes a difference
