The Hardest Part

The Hardest Part

A Poem by Ian Faraway

The hardest part
Was watching this relationship break
And my heart filling with this unfamiliar ache
Watching this love run out the door
The hardest part
Was that I didn't know what for

The hardest part
Was watching the decay of what we made
And the unbearable feeling of being afraid
The roses between us die
The hardest part
Was knowing that this relationship was a lie

The hardest part
Was wanting to work things out
But it's hard when I don't know what we're fighting about
You can be the Princess, I can play the hero
The hardest part
Was watching you go

The hardest part
Is still loving you
Especially after what you put me through
Hell bound since day number one
The hardest part
Was knowing you put me through hell for fun
