Let Go

Let Go

A Poem by Jason

I close my eyes, let the memories subside

And try to find a part of me still alive

With pressure to regroup, but then I picture you

I try running away, but only get played for a fool

So I’m forced into illusions, of drama and confusion

In reality the picture is ruined

What was loved is lost

All at my cost

I guess everything that goes up eventually falls

Let go

Let go and fly

Forget

Forget? But, why?

Believe

Believe in I

See everything break and take my life

This feeling that I have from the past won’t seem to rest

I try to put my best face forward, but stay upset

I hang my head down because I’m such a tragic mess

How can I give my all, when all I have is less?

My body breaks down, I’m dragging from all this stress

How can I love another when I’m still so obsessed?

Find tonight’s replacement, hiding behind sex

Love falls when your heart has no place to nest

But unless I keep trying

My soul will keep dying

Outside he smiles, yet inside he’s crying

Awaken my mind from being stubborn and blind

And sit back and realize this life isn’t mine

I can’t believe for everything that I’ve set out to find

That a broken soul can be controlled in no time

But yet I keep trying to play the right part

And seeing it now?

I didn’t leave the right mark

Because I abused and confused my lover’s heart

All because my own had been broken and dark

Since the start, I told you to be strong

It seems like I’ve been lying to myself all along

It hurts to look back at the picture that’s drawn

Because the picture painted an ending in which you were gone

Gone…gone…gone…I’ve gotta

Let go

Let go and fly

Forget? But, why?

Believe

Just believe in I

See everything break and take my life

Baby, sit back for one second and concentrate

On what I have to say, and don’t be so strong in fate

Try long and wait for me to finish my sentence

Don’t pick my words apart like a teenage apprentice

Alright, now let’s put the past aside

And look at the good, you can’t say I haven’t tried

Or that I ain’t cried for you, ain’t lied for you

You pushed me away when I nearly died for you

And I tried to do everything to make you smile

But your inner vision paints a picture of a child

Unsure of who you are and scared to speak

But to me? That’s what made you unique

Looking back now, I’ve got to wonder how

Life and love were all lost and not found

But I must let go

And bury the mask

Once and for all, and leave it all in my past

But I must let go

And bury the mask

Once and for all, and leave it all in my past

Oh, my Jason, a most poignant piece on heart break,

sad, although beautifully expressed with deep emotions

but comes the time to let go and stop reliving the heartbreak and get on with life~

THanks for sharing your talented pen my friend~Fran

At the end when you stated 'I must let go and bury the mask' I thought was a wonderful metaphor for the facade we put on in the name of love. We do all sorts of insane things, put ourselves through drawn-out situations...but I think it's a comfort issue. You're not comfortable with yourself so you put up this guard, and wear it like a coat of arms as a defense mechanism. And in another aspect you're setting out to please, for fear of lonliness. "And sit back and realize this life isn't mine". It seems like clarity always comes a second too late, when we're an inch too deep, way too far gone from an easy way out. When we realize we're trapped in a relationship that's based entirely off the wrong things it can be hard to break away because our endeavours are usually based off the right things and what messed us up was the way we went about attaining them.

"How can I give my all, when all is less?" this was my favorite line. I'm a fanatic for quandrys and you've just added one to my collection. It's perfection in its honest approach.

Sorry for the tangent, but all the underlying themes in this one screamed at me and I had to yell back "Hey Jay, this is what I got out of it"

This was so emotional, it made me want to cry (in a good way). Every stanza was so strong it could've stood on its own making the poem in its entirety one of the best I've ever read! Super awesome job :]

Wow! another one!! i love this...great work again...!!! this as well goes to my favorites...
loved each word again...all entwined so perfectly!

the end being my favorite...

"Looking back now, I've got to wonder how
Life and love were all lost and not found
But I must let go
And bury the mask
Once and for all, and leave it all in my past"

deeply heartfelt and moving...emotions flow freely and effortlessly here...loved the way you've painted your heart out with our words...

a pleasure to read...beautifully done...!

This is truly an amazing piece of sheer artistry. You have woven a masterpiece of human tapestry within a soul-searching lamentation to love. Willingly you submit yourself to the scrutiny of why you lost and what you will do to regain the love and passion of this special woman. Great work and sheer poetry of emotions. If you haven't lived it, you really can't write it.
