A Poem by The Twin Arenas
"

"

People get into Pittsburgh thinking

they'll just take the place.

They don't think it before, and

they don't think it after they're gone.

Just getting in.

Three days in the rain

and three more before you got here

and people always just backing up

to give it to something.

Don't expect to expect

much out of Pittsburgh

and then don't expect to

feel it unexpected when it's exactly

what was expected.

Tell anyone anything

in Pittsburgh and

they'll say, "Holy s**t!"

The city just loves a crisis.

I want to see you again.

I miss you.

I miss waking up.

Pittsburgh smells like a beautiful woman

who smells like trash.

I couldn't keep my hands off your

a*s in the morning.

This is a good description of a city.

My pleasure to read your work and you are welcome.
That's pretty good. I guess I'll have to see Pittsburgh for myself.

The last stance, while metaphoric, ties the rest together. Wow.

Have you ever heard of Haruki Murakami? He is a VERY FAMOUS Japanese author. I don't know a lot about him but he writes a lot like you - kind of mentions different things in life and lets the reader make their own connections. It is SO clever.

If you aren't already published, you should be. Respect! x

we should all be rich, guys.
I couldn't keep my hands off your a*s either. An interesting write, I suppose. Also, I'm guessing a lot of the beautiful women you have been around don't shower much, which I can respect.

thanks for the read, guv'nr
my picture of Pittsburg is that of Detroit, only more overalled. Steel overhead. Large men
strapped to conveyors. As if flowers cant grow there or that love won't happen..
Years ago, while the cab drove from the Leonardo Davinchi airport to Rome, the caves
were filled with prostitutes. And I thought, what a contrast to beauty.

I love this poem mainly because of the contrasts you present..well done.

thanks. i really appreciate this.
I've been to Pittsburgh and I've been with a hot chick who smelt weird so this poem speaks to me. I liked the imagery and comparisons between the two. Pittsburgh is hella confusing to drive in if you're not a local and we all know how baffling women can be at times so it's a fair comparison.
