Xmas

A Poem by The Twin Arenas
"

everybody stops

"

He had to stop
for gas on his way
to play music and
she was filling up
a small red car with
a dirty undercarriage.

Nobody cares how old
anybody is.

He could feel inside
moving while he filled.

They'd just go back
to his house.
He wouldn't play music
tonight.
He wouldn't play music
for days.

He paid for his gas
and stopped to ask her
if she was married.
She smiled and said that she was.

He turned and got into
his car and drove away
to play music.

He never filled up
at that station again
and sometimes she did.

This was really beautiful. Im not one to say that something is beautiful. But this was--this was really great. Almost makes me want to go to the gas station and squirt some arabian gravy in my cars gashole.

Wistful and filled with longing. Flying solo can get tedious at times.

Great imagery and emotion in this without actually spelling it out by the numbers. Great job Waconda

I thought that I had reviewed this one already but I guess not. What I said was that I get this one. I get it! Gas stations are packed with people you can fall in love with and never see again. It makes it much easier to fall in love with someone if you know you will never see them again. Sad poem though. I like it. Happy Holidays.

A interesting ending to the poem. I like how you led to the surprising ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Beautiful, how often do you see strangers and imagine a future with them in it, be it an hour, night, week or lifetime.
I do it all the time, daydreaming.
I love the way you've expressed this encounter.
