The other side of the looking glass

The other side of the looking glass

A Poem by Wamakai

I see her there,

Short dark hair,

Deep sadness in her eyes,

Pain written on her face...

But she is not there,

She lies on the one side of the looking glass.

Every day she hides,

Forbidding the tell-tale tears

From bursting their banks,

Trying to escape the cruel darkness,

The torture,

The pain of rejection,

The emptiness...

She is smiling,

She is laughing now,

But that is not what she sees,

Not the upturned corners of her mouth

Or the erzats gleam...

No, she sees what lies

there...

on the other side of the looking glass.

The real vs the actor,
This is the picture depicted here,
The inner being understands it's struggles
It's aches but the outer being wants to please an audience,
And therefore the true reality has to be suppressed by some act that says, "I'm all good here"
But unfortunately leaving the inner being to watch helplessly.
I have marveled at the way you have made the inner being as the voice of sobriety and also as the helpless onlooker
