Bathroom Floor

Bathroom Floor

A Poem by Alex
"

On average, 2 women a week are killed by a current or former male partner.

"

he leaves her on the bathroom floor

with bloody rag of lip and jaw

when he returns with an intoxicated arm

he uses it to conduct more harm

once on the bed she begs for demise

as he routinely accuses her of lies

she gets ripped and gnawed and cold and dirty

I have no choice but let him hurt me

Author's Note

Alex
I wanted to write a realistic piece on the beautiful women who have to endure abuse and sexual violence.

This was good Alex. We all like our fantasies but getting pulled back into the real world is much needed some times.

If that was your aim, you have succeeded - I work on a daily basis with such victims...Actually, I only work Fridays these days since I have effectively retired......write on

I am not sure why I am reading write such as these this week. I recently read about a cutter. The woman I knew lost her virginity in this manner which ultimately lead to such. Sad.

Its like a sinking feeling when you realize that the author speaks about herself, a cry for help..a moment of stillness just takes over followed by overwhelming rage, heartbreak, sadness. Then we move on, we ignore, we forget.. we're human again. In that moment when I read your words I'd like to think we're something better, something different, something that could actually make a change. Maybe in a parallel universe. Great poem, I can't say I enjoy writes like this because its sad that this topic has to ever be covered but I enjoy writes like this for you capture the brutality of the situation and the tragedy of it all. Whats one more brick in the wall..
Great poem, omg I'm like starting to fanboy your writing..

You're welcome :)
this is written from the gut...and the theme is ugly...i would like to put this man's head through the bathroom mirror...
that last line is so telling...many who suffer abuse think that it is their fault...and that is the worst tragedy of it all.
