For YouA Poem by WestWriterText Copyright © 2013 by Jessica P. West All Rights ReservedThe preacher from your church is here, Our families sit in rows. Calla lilies line the aisle, Your bouquet, lilies and a rose.
You chose the colors of our wedding, The cake, the place, the time. The only thing left for me to do, Was make it here on time.
I let you choose to do these things However you wanted to, Because all that I have ever done, I've only ever done for you.
You threw my phone against the wall, In a fit of blinded rage. You made me feel like an animal, Locked up in a cage.
I hated the way you made me feel, So feral, yet so small. I summoned up my own good rage, Slammed my fist into the wall.
If you really feel the way you say, Then leave, don't let me stop you. Because all that I have ever done, I've only ever done for you.
I'm sorry that I called you things, I'm sorry you did too. I know we can't take back the tide That left the crimson hue.
But now it's done and you're gone, And I'll never laugh again. When you left you took from me My love, my partner, and my friend.
We know that we were both to blame, Come home, I'm begging you. Because all that I have ever done, I've only ever done for you.
In your white dress on our wedding day, You were lovely as can be. Now in your casket, cold and gray You're a still frame of beauty.
Your patience rests within your smile, Fixed now till the end of time. I hope you find, on the other side, Eternal bliss sublime.
Wait for me there, as you did here, That's all I ask of you. Because all I that I have ever done, I've only ever done for you. © 2014 WestWriter |
