The Pretender

The Pretender

A Poem by Julius Whimbird
"

Take one look at me. What do you see? Go on... I won't judge.

"

Cherubic am I,

A-glow with innocence,

Stars in my eyes,

Smiling day in and out,

Laughing at every...

Unamusing joke you make.

I pretend unknown,

Under the radar.

Look at me,

Tell me what I am,

Name me what you will,

Anything,

I'll come to every call.

Give me a command,

Obey I will,

Unquestioning.

Indulge in my angelicy,

My fine act,

For as long as you can.

Just wait awhile longer,

You'll see me,

You'll definitely see,

Me.

A spontaneous poem I made. The words just came to me, I suppose. I'd appreciate some constructive criticism. Don't be afraid to ask me about anything you're confused on. Thank you!

I imagined a beautiful and brightly colored garden spider as she sits in her web, luring her unsuspecting victims close with her brilliance, only send them off to their untimely demise. I can not explain why this particular image 'POPPED' into my head... I suppose I'm just wired that way.

Amazing work! Pain, and hurt radiate from this piece, poetry, an amazing vent for pent up emotions. Wonderful job.

spontaneous poetry sometimes works better than laboriously constructed poems perfect in meter and verse. THis one certainly has
A lot of food for thought
