Bleached Rags

Bleached Rags

A Poem by N E. Chase

Will their blood be washed away?
The sinners prayer replayed on shuffle
Will their cold deaths stain your hands?
If you ask nicely will the voices muffle?

Are the demons here to claim you?
Or will you hide behind your beads?
Will the piper lead your voice child?
Will the sheep bestow your deeds?

How far you've gone to hold your head up
So many times you've bleached your rags
What lies you've told to disguise transgressions
Will your soul be saved when the angel gags?
