Friendly Fire

Friendly Fire

A Poem by Amortentia03

Lyrics

"

I don’t know who is left

And I don’t know if we are right.

I’m wasting my time

On this winless fight.

There’s losses on both sides

Because we’ve got differences

That we can’t hide.

Somewhere along I must have crossed the line

Now I’m on the enemy’s side.

I see you all around and

I want to hunt you down.

When you’re in front of me,

You’re exactly where I want you to be.

I’ve got you in my crosshairs,

The object of my desire

Don’t run.

I’m just playing with friendly fire.

The field is littered

Everyone go back to base.

There’s no sign of life in here

Nothing true that I can trace.

I’ve been taken captive

I’m a victim of the truth

Looking for something more

Something a little bit like proof.

I see you all around and

I want to hunt you down.

When you’re in front of me,

You’re exactly where I want you to be.

I’ve got you in my crosshairs,

The object of my desire

Don’t run.

I’m just playing with friendly fire.

I wish I could be the perfect soldier

When fighting with my heart,

But when I get close to getting it right

And I let the captive depart.

I see you all around and

I want to hunt you down.

When you’re in front of me,

You’re exactly where I want you to be.

I’ve got you in my crosshairs,

The object of my desire

Don’t run.

I’m just playing with friendly fire.

But if you and I stay casual

That will be the only casualty.
