The Struggle

The Struggle

A Poem by WillaDanvers
"

My recent adventures have my fingers itching to write but my daily life restricts me to one poem every now and then

"

Hand after hand,

Clutched around frozen chain,

Wind battling against weary features,

Feet struggling to find solid ground,

Destination all that in mind,

Hitting that peak the only thing,

Keeping her feet moving up,

The treacherous rocky face,

Sweat dripping down her face,

Across her back and into shoes,

Sun glaring at her progress up,

Attempting to slow her complete,

The journey is told to be precious,

The destination only another thing,

On the road to redemption,

But this journey, is only one of hell,

Pressure building in chest,

Aches running throughout feet,

Hands slipping and eyes cracking,

Struggling to keep her hold,

Calm blues seas, with harmonic sunshine,

Birds flying o’er head whistling,

Lush green hills in view,

Coated with winding of grey tarmac,

She made the top, sturdy and true,

Despite the struggle of a journey,

With aching hands, and wobbly feet,

She stands with a smile, breathing success.

I love both the literal and metaphorical nature of this!
