Interviews

Interviews

A Poem by Willem Gray
"

We all think in pictures or words, but I sometimes think in conversations. Conversations with people I admire, desire or had a falling out with. This poem explores those imaginary conversations.

"

Interviews

I sit down.

So does he

I feel tense.

So does she

We speak for a while

Unobstructed

Uncontested

Uncensored

He tends to agree

She doesn’t

What on earth did we just see?

Why don’t you agree?

Will this stay in my head

or will you, one day, speak to me?

regardless

I calm down.

Good piece! This poems speaks to so many people, including me. Just reading your words brought the word "misery" to mind. As an interviewer and interviewee, within limited time and information, we try to connect and learn about each other, and it's so often a fail or leaves us with a million questions and hours of anxiety. Still, as you say, we eventually calm down and move on. Great job capturing this experience and the emotion.
