A delicatessen or something

A delicatessen or something

A Poem by willweb

I found a pen in the street

embellished with the logo

of the funeral home over on Main

It felt good in my hand

like I could maybe use it to write

a beautiful love poem

I pulled a piece of paper

from my back pocket

and scribbled on it until I saw ink

Then I wrote,

Here among the shadows

of my lonely broken heart

merely but a ghost this empty place

I died the day you walked away

so very long ago

drowning in the tears that fell my face

In disgust, I tossed the pen

back where I found it

and shoved the paper deep into my pocket

Maybe next time

I will find a pen from a

delicatessen or something

Your talent for writing foundation and delivery is without question, you're one of the best I've read and this is a perfect example why. You make something complex look so simple. Amazing poem, with much respect

Thanks so much Queenie for reading and commenting. I am thrilled you enjoyed this.
I like the acceptance of imperfection shown here. It is likely that the relationship left a long standing effect and it needs time. Time to work it out or time to tranform into something that can be accepted, embraced or understood so of course when you wrote the poem (funny I thought at that point, that's good isn't it) it was insufficient and certainly could not emulate the feeling you had so you threw it away. When the right time comes the right words will follow.

Clever.

Thankyou
