Where do I belong?

Where do I belong?

A Poem by Amy Whetzell
"

part 1

"

I’M LOST in a world of prejudice and judgment

LOOKING SEARCHING all the world over

TO FIND MY PLACE unknown so long

IN THIS WORLD I drift

THAT PLACE THAT SPOT never too long at each

THIS SPOT I mustn’t stay but I cannot leave

THIS SPOT ON WHICH I STAND no longer feels safe, no more secure

STAND ALONE unable to move

SO ALONE though love envelopes

ALONE YET I’M NOT family fills the air

NOT, BUT SURROUNDED by support of kin

IN LOVE or not?

IN LOVE I WAS with just one man, just him

SO DEEPLY I WAS in his arms

BUT GOT LOST was blinded

LOST, CAN’T FIND MY WAY lost to all

BACK TO HIM to his heart

TO HIS HEART THROUGH MINE I wish you understood

MINE OWN DROVE ME AWAY from all that matters

FR AWAY TOO FAR so so far

FROM ME from me

NOW I’M LOST must continue the search

CAN’T FIND ME AGAIN I must know my place

PLEASE HELP PLEASE TELL Me I need to know

WHERE DO I BELONG?
