Math

I hate math, I hate it so- and I can't be the only one! The only comfort that I have is knowing one day, I'll be done...

Math is truly difficult.
I'll admit, it's somewhat scary.
That is, ever since they turned my math books into dictionaries.

It used to be so simple.
1+1, or 3x2.
Everything made perfect sense 
back in the math I used to do.

But now it seems that math 
has kicked all logic out the door,
And it seems to me, they don't even use real numbers anymore!

Now it haunts me in my classes
And it mocks me from the paper.
I guess that's why I always wait and save my work 'til later...

I mean, isn't "finding X" for pirates?

And since when do letters add?

It's not entirely my fault that my math scores are so bad!

It's just so very, very pointless,
learning things we'll never use.
(Unless of course, you're into science, which is still not an excuse...)

But just because I'm bad at math,
That doesn't mean I'm dense.
It's not my fault that math no longer involves using common sense.

Math is truly difficult 
And I doubt I'll ever get it right.
Well, we're studying with letters,
So I might as well just write!

I love this so much. Math has always been very hard for me as well, (even before using letters!) Writing has always been much easier and so much more fun than adding and subtracting and multiplying. Math just drives me crazy with how boring and seemingly useless a lot of it is. Really, you only need it for money handling. I remember my geometry teacher would always say it helps you solve problems in real life, but I really don't think so... Good poem though! I can relate so much.

Maths is one subject
we all hate with a passion.

But I believe in the natural maths like
how much money I make, how many friends I have...

Also as poets we must admit that maths
do play a role in our structuring and rhythm of words.
We are aware of the number of syllables to use
for specific structure, rhythm and effect.

very good. and i have to say, math only gets harder, although i find geometry easier than algebra. althouh i hate math anyway. good poem
