What if I was not as I am?

Would the universe be unbalanced?

Would children weep instead of laughing?

What if suddenly there was no sun?

And perhaps no moon too?

Would we fall into an abyss of darkness?

Never to know the light?

Would we be happy to marry the night?

And forget all about our bright past?

What if you didn't love me first?

Would I have loved you back?

Would I have chased you like you did to me?

Would I have crawled sneakily into your heart?

What about the life we created together?

Would it be different?

Maybe I would've loved someone else?

Maybe I would've married the boy next door?

Who knows?

What if you hadn't made the choices that led you to me?

Would I still be me?

Would you still be you?

Is the past what defines you?

Or the world you've known?

The questions haunt me and so do you.
