Messy Handwriting

Just like messy handwriting

I can be difficult to read

And I might look uninviting

So it's hard to proceed

Getting to know me

Of this I'm truly aware

When it comes to letting people in

I'm a real nightmare

But unlike handwriting on paper

I'm not here to stay

So if you want to get close

Try it sooner than later

Do it without delay

Because if you succeed

I might just try to be a translator

Of the messy handwriting you're seeing

That is my entire being

I would say that this definitely is poetry. The rhyming is good and the use of handwriting as a simile for the inner person is unique. The poem is really a sort of confession of personal insecurity, a warning to others occurring simultaneously with a barely disguised plea for intimacy. All in all an interesting psychological portrait.
