Stealing Your Heart Away

Stealing Your Heart Away

A Poem by John McDonald
"

This stemmed from another AIM conversation, where my friend said my flirtatious attempts were cute, which was better than creepy. So I got creepy. Dig it.

"

I sat here my darling for so long

Wondering as the hours slipped by . . .

How can I win your affection

How can I win your heart?

Then my mental block was broken down

The darkness in my mind suddenly gone

I guess you can say a lightbulb went off

Just . . . above my head.

Why win over your love?

Why fight for your heart?

When I need only steal it

Like a thief in the night?

That's another good idea!

That is how I shall do it!

I'll come in the darkness

A shape in the shadows

I trembled with anticipation

As I crept down your hall

My own heart jumping

As I stopped at your door

I was hoping to see your eyes

All their deep emerald beauty

Before I commited the theft

The heist of a lifetime

But your eyes were closed

You were dreaming sweet dreams

And they never fluttered open

As I tore you open

Now your heart is mine

Your flawless bloody ruby

But it's so cold tonight

I wish I took your skin

So beautifully written, that I like it. Normally creepy is not my type to enjoy, but your use of words and portrayal of the story made me enjoy it. Kudos for that.
