Beast Becomes Human

Beast Becomes Human

A Poem by

Air,
don't give up on me!
Keep me going!
I need you,
Air.

Water,
don't strand me on your beaches!
Help me grow!
I need you,
Water.

Silly girl,
said Water to Beast,
You don't need me,
You need Psyche, over there
She's a great thing
To behold,
Psyche.

So the girl walked up to Psyche and said
Psyche!
don't leave me without a will!
Help me think!
I need you,
Psyche.

Bitter old Psyche,
without her beloved Cupid,
said to Beast
Foolish girl!
I don't need you!
I need my Cupid.
He's a wonderful thing,
Cupid.

Sweet Beast,
With her selfishness and greed
Made a compromise:
What if,
Lovely Psyche,
I helped you
I can win him back, your
Cupid.

And Psyche,
With her selfishness and greed
Agreed to go with Beast
And so Beast
Had received Psyche.
So Beast and Psyche went and found
Cupid
Sitting there, perfect and beautiful
They locked eyes
Their love too powerful for grudges to
Restrain
Psyche and Cupid never left each other
And Beast followed them everywhere
Like a daughter,
Beast.
And so Beast had
Psyche and Cupid
But she lacked
Water and Air!
Strange,
Beast thought to herself
I thought I needed
Water and Air
In order to live!

But Beast was wrong.
She didn't need
Water and Air
Beast learned to survive on
Psyche and Cupid
Soul and Love
Beast had become
Human.
