Tears Aren't the Only Things Falling From My Eyes Tonight

Tears Aren't the Only Things Falling From My Eyes Tonight

A Poem by

When you don't want them, they scratch.
When you long for them, they leave.
When you bathe in their splendor, they leave warm trails on your heart!
Your windows sashed against the rain, even though the warm nectar seeps in...
They're the best moisturizer.
They tie you to the land and sea, to the animals and plants.
They bring you full circle.

When they begin, they are hot with anger.
When they scamper through your forests, they are warm with fear.
When they saturate the ground, they cool with solitude.
You plead and beg for them to run different patterns, but they leave ruts..
They're naturally snarky little creatures, leaking your greatest secret to the tabloids.
They betray your pride, bring out the best in you.
They speak what you are too afraid to say.

The sweet gumdrops are brought about by the their own sweetness.
Someone's beautiful voice, singing for you..
The purple of the grasses that line mountains..
A maturity found in the most innocent of people..

They taste like a wasteland, wash like satin, smell like loss, dance like stars.
They cure like memories, gash like mistakes, sing like demons, sound like ferocity.
All the same, they feed lonely hearts with love;
Rejuvenate the crows' feet 'round the bottom of the sea.

When they begin, they're hot with life.
As they travel, they grow weary and cool.
By the time they fall from a broken heart, cracked soul, revived mind, ecstatic smile!
By the time they fall, they are cold with insecurity, forgiveness, forgotten hatred, cobwebs.

You can write a poem. I like each set of lines. Each adding to the story. You open the doors to many questions in this poem. Why we do things and why people want to stay or go?
" The sweet gumdrops are brought about by the their own sweetness.
Someone's beautiful voice, singing for you.."
I like the ending to this outstanding poem. Thank you.
