A Chant, A Curse

A Chant, A Curse

A Poem by
"

I wrote this a few years back - it is basically a metaphor about love and loss, players and teases, and how life seems impossible once you've tried or tasted what affections from another feels like.

"

The desperation burns hot in the fiery pits

The flames swirl and rise, impossible to miss

Soon skin melts away and eyes begin to bleed

With love as the cure and then to be freed

But when one thinks she's found the one that's true

She find he never cared, a chance fallen through

As a tear flies down her scorching red cheeks

He lets her descend to the unforgiving peaks

She feels like a fool, having faith in a lie

So she let herself rest there, waiting to die

Yet again she awakes to find herself all alone

Except for a statue made entirely of stone

Around her exists solely an infinite misty white

The statue before her holds a ball of light

She steadily picks it up, to find herself in Hell

Looking down on the place where she just fell

Watching with jealousy as others escape

How their love is so real while hers was fake

Yonder she caught sight of him saving another

A girl she knew her well, they hated one another

So she grappled her in a unbreakable hold

Noticing her heart has grown black and cold

She giggled to herself as the light left her eyes

But he watched, too as she slowly died

So powerful, strong; she'd stolen the King's place

Now she's thirsty for revenge with a nasty grin on her face
