~ Yūrei

Nights, by this old moldy

In this wet cement, we desire,

With a strong need for peace, we yearn,

We lived for centuries, but there is no place,

No real place for us,

         Starving souls, tormented by

Severe penalties, searching for sleep,

Sing us your lullaby, for we do not

             Or soon never will be asleep again;

    Tired of hanging in here,

We are in need for our rest,

         We suffer from our chest,

    We can't breathe, the fact

We hang in the world of between,

And some of “you” who noticed, so keen...

           We'll help, all unseen.

Eli, this piece haunts me...

I felt your words walking into a purgatory realm...
Somewhere between sleep and death lies "tormented starving souls"..

If you can see what I see in my mind's eye
(and I know you can, because you write vividly),
you would get chills too!

Do I make sense??
It's late... and reading this has my mind reeling! OMG! lol

Entrancing write, Sis!~xoxo~

This reminds me of 'Who wants to live forever' by Queen. I wrote a short film with this song in mind once. Your poem inspires me to have another go at it. The way you arrange the lines, set it to music... I get this auteur vibe from you. Have you directed?

I think you are right.... ;) you inspire.
Your title for this piece strikes me as reference to something you said before, but it's been a long time, so that might haunt me until I find it again. Yes, Robbie describes this as a walk into Purgatory, and I agree. As well, I see this as a dread state of life these days... and Japan, as it was in Japan... which haunts me too. When all the people are gone only the shadows remain; I recall how the atomic bombs in Japan burned images of people onto the walls. Yet I realize the point to this write is not to retain such morbid records but to release them.

Once again, this is a sweet sentiment from your heart . Well done my friend.

Help comes to us in our darkest hours...
Maybe we are not rescued by the Calvary or Prince Charming, but we are gifted the strength to survive if we choose to keep up the good fight.
I may not believe in what most people call ghosts, yet I do believe in the realm of the supernatural. Benevolent and not so much, we still control the conduit to this realm we live in... The control valve is our conscious mind and free will.

Hi, Eli

I like the transition steps from "Your Wall Flower" as an observer's point of view, to becoming part of "~ Yūrei" as a character presenting a successful perspective from the other side of the world.

I also like that your poem says between the lines that some have the strength of mind and spirit to interpret with firmness what could be almost invisible to most persons that could perceive circumstance with fear and get stuck in this world.

The artwork you used perfectly describes in visual form spirits that could be stuck between different worlds, and could raise the question if there should be human interference to assist them or leave them there restless as their destiny.

I like your poem and am happy to officially be your Raven Sister, Thank you, now we don't need a rope to go bungee jumping, we have wings.

Hugs and Kisses

Anika

Hi, this was haunting and beautiful. It reminds me of an anime I used to watch a long while ago called Hell Girl. There was a girl who would take souls back to hell on her ferry boat, to me her innocence and personality felt what it would be like to be stuck between the world of the living and the dead. I think if I had to pick a job it would be that sorrowful one, but also I'd get to comfort souls on their final journey. I really saw that path of life reflected in this piece, excellent work.

I like the unsettling and off beat feel of this poem. Thrusting the reader into the ghostly realm. Un-breathing lungs and beat-less hearts. I also like the title. Excellent work dear.

Thank you very much for this great review soul buddy. I'm glad you felt it so well... thanks a lot.
And we wait for truth and silence
Beyond the torment of souls
Let us fly to heaven high
Let us finally die..

This is very good.. And You speak of things far beyond your years ..
And I love you.......... Little Dove .... ....

you reminded me of my visit to cellular jail corridor ten years back. It sounded something very similar !

There's a certain element of eeriness to this poem that lures the reader in. It was amazing and one of the most original pieces I have read in some time.
