LE NARCISSIST

LE NARCISSIST

A Poem by M. L. F.

He stares at the world past the tip of his nose
Through gold tinted glasses
Yes - he only sees -
the things his eyes show him trough internal prose
Lies drip like molasses-
Leave trails on his sleeves

All done to protect you - his logic so safe
Yet when his lies come out -
as lies want to do
He'll bear no such guilt - He's the man with no mirror
He'll bear no such guilt - but get angry with you -

-for these harsh accusations that you've dared to say
"How could you believe them?"
"Believe over me?"
He'll shout at the top of his two screeching lungs -
like a hawk in distress who is too blind to see

But I saw straight through him - his sad little game
Le Narcissist's acting should win an award
Too bad he will go through life too broke to see -
All the truths that his logical lies can't afford.

Simple, masterful, fierce power writing. I loved your take on the narcissist! You captured perfectly their callous toxicity!

You have some killer good lines too...

'Leave trails on his sleeves' if one could only see lies fall from lips in this way you'd run a mile. Such great imagery there.

'like a hawk in distress who is too blind to see' ..... immaculate lines!

Sublime writing! I enjoyed this a bunch.

Interesting take! Narcissism as a phenomenon portrayed here.. And yet, shouldn't we look into the root cause of what caused someone to be like that? Just thinking here.. Cool write, Misty! ☺

Wonderful take on narcissism. It is so true how you can't reason with someone who is incapable of seeing things from any other point of view.

Simply worded description of a complex person.

great take on narcissism, this poem really revealed their cold and toxic nature, especially if you've ever tried to love or even befriend one. "hawk in distress" was a powerful line and i really thought that the part about the trail on the sleeve was vivid and clever, it really gave you sense of just pathetic creepiness. Awesome!

I suppose the name speaks volumes.
No time for anyone else.
Not when they can't reach the pinnacle of those high standards. Wonder if they die lonely.
