A Thought About PoetryA Poem by AlexzanderaI had a thought about poetry Not while writing it But while staring at my ceiling At 2 a.m. on a Friday night Or is it a Saturday morning? No matter I had a thought about poetry And this thought I had about poetry At 2 a.m. on a Friday/Saturday night/morning Was perhaps not a thought An epiphany I think I had an epiphany about poetry I had an epiphany about poetry At an absurd hour, At a time that seems to be Both morning and night But simultaneously neither Either way, an epiphany it was A perfect epiphany about poetry And so I grabbed my laptop (after failing to locate my notebook) To record the perfect epiphany about poetry I turned it on I signed in And I opened this document A document soon to contain My perfect epiphany about poetry But by the time my fingertips grazed the keyboard Or, pounded on it really I found I could no longer recall This perfect epiphany I had about poetry While staring at my ceiling During neither the morning nor the night (but also both) My epiphany had faded Dimmer than a thought Now I only think I had a thought about poetry And instead I think I had a thought about time © 2018 AlexzanderaReviews
