Opportunity

Opportunity

A Poem by Alexzandera

This doesn't feel done but I wanted to upload it for comments. They would be much appreciated.

"

What is the word

for waking up

and finding a stranger

living in your skin?

Opportunity

To meet yourself

on the street and see yourself

from the perspective

of an acquaintance

To once again memorize

the delicate arch of your back

and trace the freckle constellations

across your skin

To forget the parts you hate,

like your size,

and your curves,

and instead fall in love with them

The eviction of who you once were

does not have to be a travesty

I like the way you have conveyed this idea. The theme itself is great. I took it as looking back on how you once were and I love how you describe it as "opportunity".

I love the imagery throughout the second to fourth stanzas(not counting "Opportunity" as a stanza). My favorite line would probably be "and trace the freckle constellations", though I also really love the whole second stanza.

I can see how you may still want to fiddle around with things here and there just to clean it up a bit, but I can't really pin point what can help clean it up. I'm a fan of it and it conveys a wonderful concept in a lovely way.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
