Someone asked me "What makes your ex different from your boyfriend now?" and this is it

He makes me smile at just one glance

He was the only one who would give me a chance

 

He stayed with me for so long

He made me fall in love with his song

 

He never knew the right thing to say

But somehow he always made everything ok

 

He would make me so mad I'd want to cry

But he would never completely say goodbye

 

He never really treated me right

But oddly we would never fight

 

He always makes my heart sing

That firey feeling that e'd always bring

 

I'm not sure why I even love him

But I guess I just can't choose upon whim

 

I want to stop loving you

But gosh that's just so hard to do..

Much conflict emotionally in this that I can totally relate. I dated a guy, but it didn't last long because I only thought of him as a friend. I felt the exact same conflict here. Such a beautifully melancholy poem that we can all relate to.

"I'm not sure why I even love him." This reminds me of a quote I read. I can't find the exact quote but it's something like you ask yourself why you love a person and you always come back to the same answer and the only reason is - no reason. It's a lot better than the way I worded it, but I couldn't find it.
