I always wonder about strangers. Who are they? What's their life like?

A raindrop drowns in another raindrop
in this endless night
the street lamps replacing the stars
as her heels make a sound

From the curtains you can see
her coat crying
leaving a river behind her steps
long hair wet

Could she be a waitress?
always waiting
and chasing rich fast cars
fidgeting checking her watch

A creature of the night
with bags under eyes
smudged red lipstick
or is that blood?

I've read much of your work on here, and this is my favorite. As I read this poem, I could see this woman, as if in a soulful music video. And, the heal clicks truly brought her image to life.

Beyond the vivid imagery, you make us think about how the people in our lives, the strangers on the streets have their own stories, most we'll never know. And, what a tragedy that we might never know some of them. Impressive work!
