Our Disfunction

Our Disfunction

A Poem by Yellow_Rose
"

I wrote this after having spent some time in what would be considered the Harlem of Jacksonville Florida. You can find it everywhere, and the reality can be harsh.

"

You walk through life with a blind eye to the world;

What your eyes don’t see is what your mind doesn’t wanna know.

Poverty and insanity,

The craziness of our humanity.

People are at their lowest,

When one can look but feel no emotion.

You see it in our streets,

In our homes and under our feet;

Life could easily pass us by,

Reality in its grip;

And not a single head would turn, if each home and face just burned.

But maybe if we showed alil more compassion,

And practice what we preach:

Show alil love, no more just turning the other cheek.

Poverty and insanity,

The craziness of our humanity.

I choose to think that we can change,

Cuz blind eyes never find true happiness.
