BCD

A Poem by yusavage
"

my contradicting feelings on children>.> Is there such thing as the Bipolar Children Disease?? (BCD)

"
Noisy, putrifying, filthy kids
with angelic smiles plastered upon their faces
Nails with dirt, stumbling with untied laces
I have the bipolar children disease
Noisy nuisances, not leaving me alone
Pestering me nonstop, with their unquiting ''why....?"
uncovering sheets of literature as time fly
I have the bipolar children disease
Sniffing, sneezing, with grime on their hands,
it's hard to not wonder about their view of the world.
Minature versions, yet so different and bold
I have the bipolar children disease
Scraped knees, elbows are their biggest worry
Love to them, is simple and caring
screaming, shouting, with burden unexisting
this profound love, burdened with dislike and envy

I do like the juxtaposition of envy, love, and displeasure in this poem. The line 'uncovering sheets of literature as time fly' is a little misplaced in my opinion. Is it lit on raising kids or to answer their questions? Bedtime stories that your mother/father read to you that you now 'uncover' to read to your own? Somehow I imagined an actual sheet as I was reading - like when you make the bed and fluff the covers and attempt to run underneath before the tent falls.
Overall the imagery in the poem is what I love the most. It allows the reader to look at children in a different way than how society tells us we should and then gently reminds us that although they can be "noisy nuisances" they are rather marvelous.

Haha, I have to admit I have BCD too :-) Strange little creatures they are indeed. I think your last sentence sums up the feeling perfectly. Like it!
