On a Chain

On a Chain

A Poem by Zakari Schmidt
"

Motions instead of metaphors

"
Grim reaper knocks at the door
I've sat on those stairs before
and hate to ask for more
when I've taken everything and
smashed it on the floor,
as I wish my brain was not
in my head anymore
I could do bigger things in
oceans instead of shores,
motions instead of metaphors

If you don't mind
let me inside

Hello, through a keyhole
Some locks resemble skulls
Every time that I fit
claustrophobia hits
me and I pull away
Better kept on a chain
I felt a connection but
there were no directions
for my bones to be,
a skeleton key

Great use of description in the poem. You create visions and thoughts for the reader.

I did like the lines above. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

This was a very interesting take, Death needs an all knowing key but eventually that key is taking is own toll as well. There are many memorable stanzas here, my favorite part is when the audience realizes the topic is a key. Well done :)

It is hard to keep those emotions linked with no direction or purpose. Feels like chains around our necks. A powerful write...:).....
