Without a Wing

Without a Wing

A Poem by Zakari Schmidt
"

I've been flying true

"
Birds of a feather,
float on together
Flying true
Depends on the weather,
Be my shelter
as the wind blows through

Go away
with the light of day,
Behind a parted cloud
the moon came down,
and fell behind my head
A pillow for my bed,
to stretch across the sky
under cover of night

Can't steal the thunder
from a storm
Can't pick a rose
without the thorn
Can't take flight
without a wing
Can't belong to anything

Such a light and gentle poem, like a feather, but the sentiments it brings to life weigh on the heart like a brick. I welcome the weight, because it's emotion and meaning. You made something beautiful and dainty pack a powerful punch, and that's hard to do for most. It wasn't over worked and it was far from average. It flowed so well too.
Well done, in other words haha.
