Dark Fable

Dark Fable

A Poem by Zackery Alan Daley
"

A poem about childhood, the darker side of innocence, and viewing something in the eyes of another.

"

Cover her body in flowers,
Wouldn't you like to know...

My conscious wanders in those eyes.

Ignoring all the snow.

It was worth the thousand scars...
Worth more than all the stars!

Aye me, this is a dream,

but think forward and,

manifest your own reality.

We were toy infantry,

Vanguard of the Empire

Chivalry, indeed is dead.

I witnessed myself:

We removed the head.

I don't wanna play war anymore...

Send me home, reset, like it was before.

Since when is love so affable?

The harshness of it all...

Immediate access to humiliate,

Electric messages are no longer organic

What is worth the time I should be spending...

Excuse me a moment while I panic,

This façade all the better, has reached its ending.

The concept of this is truly striking...I have to say that I was almost surprised at how good this was; I mean, it reminded me of something that could have been written by one of the modern beat poets of the age. A social concept turned personal through great imagery and an emotional connect to your own youthful story. I am so happy I stumbled upon this piece, I will be reading more of you!

Flows very well. This is an interesting comparison of one time period to another. This piece does sound classical; yet, it uses "modern" terminology. There is a hint of dissatisfaction. Enjoyed it, nice write.

Sometimes it is good to refresh our childhood days and compare.

Funny how things change with time. Our view of life will be with different eyes.

I enjoyed this. It speaks to you on several different levels. It talks about innocence, love, and the growing sense of self. Great job.
