Just 1 Summer

Just 1 Summer

A Poem by Zackery Alan Daley
"

An old poem found in a notebook from my ninth grade year

"
Just one summer, not one year through.
A certain girl that I admire starts a heated ruse.
I broke a moral law, that they though wrong,
And so I started smoking for a way to stop.
All the racing thoughts, of unusual stock.
Turning me in to a monster with conviction
Named Johnny Hancock.

I'm the one who saw you, and claimed you,
That feeling you won,
When you kiss the one that you love
"So you'll wait for me?"
"Where the hell else am I to go?"

You write here with an honest, gritty feel, and it does flow like a powerful lyric. Vivid and alive with the story.

I like this style, its kind of nonchalant. The ending is bitter sweet. Very good writing, doll.
