S For Stereotype

S For Stereotype

A Poem by Hope

I'm pink for girls, blue for boys.
I'm the monotonous nerd, allergic to fun.
I'm the biased tears well-suited in the eyes of the weak.
I'm the Muslim who has mastered the art of killing.
I'm the snobby, filthy, rich man who speaks the language of arrogance.
I'm the neglected penniless person, the epitome of disgust.
I'm the woman who can never lead because of her female birth.
I'm the science student who has patented the right to be a brainiac.
I'm pseudo, I'm deceptive.
I'm stereotype.

An interesting write, Hope.

I guess the idea of stereotyping is a double edged sword; for the most part it has no place in modern, free thinking society. The major issue is when the far left bleeding hearts in this world hijack the basic ideas of personal choice and freedom of expression and resort to blatant stereotyping themselves in the process to protest against any perceived stereotypist. To stand up against something by resorting to the same tactic defies logic and commonsense, but it does happen and increasingly more chaotically in this politically correct age.

While i find the repetition throughout somewhat jarring, your idea is deeply thoughtful and very relevant to our modern lives. Nice work.

What a great piece of satire. I can understand this poem very well, it's true and hits the mindset of people. I hope to see a change in people's mindset and thoughts. I really liked it.

It seems you've made your point...and made your point...and made your point, and driven it home till it's blunted.

And in what way is blue for male infants either deceptive or pseudo? How does a science student, "patented the right to be a brainiac," Given that Brainiac was a villain in Superman comics, or more recently a smart person?

Instead of a list of examples of what a stereotype is, why not talk about why stereotypes are so common, and how, used maliciously, they harm?

In other words, instead of informing the reader, why not punch that reader's emotional buttons and entertain them?

The sad part. Many believe what you wrote. I believe each of us different and with wanting more or less. Thank you Hope for sharing the powerful and worthwhile thoughts.
