O' human heart

O' human heart

A Poem by S.zaynab.kamoonpury

O' heart, I wonder how
you can store
so many different
emotions of ours
in just thy four puny
chambers
while pumping away the
liquid of life

O' heart in you we
discover love
but side by side you can
harbour hate
In you we find the
emotion of happiness
but side by side you
simmer rage!

When you cease to beat
many plans you thwart
May God protect our
precious heart.

And while some O' heart
you hold dear
some make you skip a
beat in fear!

O' heart but we find in
you as well
the vile emotion of
jealousy
Such a potpourri of
emotions in you dwell
Help filter out any wrong
ones for me!

A mere four chambers
indeed, but spacious are
they
Invite therein
whomsoever in the
world you may

But in the end forget not
to reserve
atleast a single chamber
for its Creator, to
preserve
The creator of hearts
More than that deserves.

Really enjoyed reading it..paying tribute and gratitude to the creator of hearts, fancy that..typically I enjoyed "simmer rage!" was a brilliant line that fitted wonderfully with the rest of your poem..some think brain overrides the heart while recent research debunked this theory pointing out it is all about the heart. Abrahamic religions stress that it is all about the heart. But then again what embodies your body (vessel or vehicle or entity etc) is a soul and that soul was a blow of God so without the soul the heart and brain are useless. Anway, I should pay my respect to heart, next ;)

The human heart is more than just an organ. It is affected by emotions whether good or bad. You've made good use of your strong words throughout this writing.

Great poem.

Thanks so much though this isn't my newest. ☺️
A very earnest and loving prayer you made in this poem and a very nice portrait of the duality that lies within all hearts the gift of and the curse of free will that each soul must choose in existence:)

I have often wondered about the play we put on the human heart. It is physical yet we have emotions running through it that can be of varying sorts. You have raised a debateable topic here. Thank you for raising this awareness.

Beautiful poem that captures so well the heart’s purpose, to capture and hold close love and hope. And, when in sync with the healthy mind, goodness prevails, as it did with your poem.

Thanks for such a great comment on my simple poem! Cheers.
SZK, there's is a raw pulse here a heart within the words. Beating the questions we ask the universe over and again. The emotions that fuel, fire, rise and fall all for this beating heart. The heart goes unheard drowned out by the sounds all around, unless you put your naked ear to the chest of another to hear the heart as a slowly beating a drum. Feel the rise and fall of a pulse maintaining a life. Your words have me questioning the universe do we feel with or heart or with our minds?

Very well done !!!

S,
I am reminded of Rumi. This is both spiritual and philosophical. A very thoughtful poem indeed. Well done.

Thanks so much Ken, wow Rumi, luv his poems too, glad u think so. Best wishes.
Nicely rhymed. It is interesting that the name of the physical organ became representative of the seat of emotions. Even more interesting is the fact that the emotions can affect the physical heart in a lethal manner.

Your poem reflects so accurately how some perceive the human heart ... yet what is the human heart ? Psycologically it images our thoughts and emotions be they good or bad. Sums up the 'feelings' it harbours and the true value of the heart. profound write. Your presentation of the piece is amazing. Thank you.
