Ineffective Parenting

Ineffective Parenting

A Poem by [KL]
"

Something I see in public a little too often for my liking.. Just saying. [M]

"
Even Super Nanny can't
Tame this monster. He's
The real life Eric Cartman
Of the twenty-first
Century, abusing
His parents, whilst screaming.
Just for a few more sweets,
Maybe some ice cream too.
Throwing a tantrum in
Public, refusing to
Calm down. Always wanting more.
One toy box isn't enough,
He wants yet another one.
Like a fool, she obliges,
Changes course, towards
The toy store. Fishing
Out her purse from her bag.
Another example of
Ineffective parenting.

The poem is so good and you are one of the few writers on this website who know how to use short lines effectively. Most writers use short lines in poems for the sake of it when there's no point to it.

I like the references to modern culture like Eric Cartman and Supernanny and the references to modern life like parents that always give in. I've favourited it.

This is really good it reminds me of a movie Called WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE. It stars old time actresses Bette Davis, and Joan Crawford very good chling movie. Bette davis plays a once loved child actress who is old and hateful now that her not much younger sister is a star. she tortures her nearly to death but in the end is caught check it out! its old from 1963 and in black and white but a good watch.

"Even Super Nanny can't
Tame this monster"

This line stood out, and gave me a nice little laugh...lol. A nice, well-stated piece.

You did make some good comparisons here, and it's so prevalent today: people who don't know how to parent effectively. The age of people having kids is getting younger and younger, which can be a reason for this uneffective parenting we see. But we can't judge parents until we ourselves claim the role of a parent.

Really nice Kasim. I like the way you included Super Nanny and Cartman. Very nice touch. Also a very nice poem on modern parenting. I have seen many parents like this and you have caught it perfectly. Well done on another correct, amazing, poem.
