"To My Valentine"

"To My Valentine"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"To My Valentine:"
I wish I could gamble some time,
In order to win some more,

So then I could spend it all with you.

I would give up all of my useless and once cherished memories,

So that we could make more of our own.

I would take everything in my past that I once painted black,

And paint it any other color you’d like.

I’d give every piece of my heart to you,

If I had all of them.

You probably already have all those missing pieces,

Which would explain the amount of happiness

That fills my soul whenever I see you.

There’s a chance that I might not be happy every single day,

And that I might have some kind of mid-life crisis,

Because of the shadows that tend to come out and torment me once in awhile.

But I’d put all of that away if it started to worry you.

I’ve already done that once,

And I don’t need to put a piece of the past on repeat.

That song doesn’t need to be heard anymore.

The only one that will is the one that will mend all of the pieces together.
