Saying Goodbye

Saying Goodbye

A Poem by John Zohoranacky

Saying Goodbye

The Grim Reaper grips your heart

While I desperately grip your hand.

Trying hard to pull us apart

But I won't listen to his command.

I feel him stealing your will,

I yell and yell, begging you to hold on

Because I need you still

And can't bear you being gone.

You cannot leave me,

Together we are strong as glue,

Why can you not see,

That life is nothing without you.

You are the sunshine in my rain

And you only have to smile

To take away my pain

And send it down the Nile.

I wish now I could do the same

Or make your pain my own

Because I know that I will be lame

I will not make it alone.

But then you held my hand tighter,

And said with your last breath,

Something that made me happier,

You would watch over me even in death.
