The World Is Over

The World Is Over

A Poem by Alexa Tasch
"

A post-apocolyptic poem

"

Yesterday I saw the red wings of the grim reaper in the sky

Yesterday I saw the whole world die

And yesterday, don’t ask me why, I’m still alive alone to cry

The day before was Saturday

So the world ended on Sunday, a ‘holy’ day

And everyone had to pray

Today I was alone in here

In this new world empty of people but full of fear

And I wish I could follow the rest of you and disappear

Why did only I survive?

It’s just so lonely being alive

If only there was a world left to revive

Do I live in this hell or should I die?

If only I had a friend to stand by

But I can’t without someone to say goodbye

Maybe I’m not the only one

Maybe something’s just begun

Because I see a survivor Standing by the setting sun

I enjoyed it and it got the message across. Most of the rhyming was good, but some came across a little cheesy. I wouldn't worry about it, however, as it is fine the way it is.
