Driven

Driven

A Poem by None
"

Three things that drive us ever foward, one thing that keeps us from falling apart.

"

Within my chest,

My ribs protect,

Hold still my beating heart.

It longs for freedom,

Longs for wisdom,

Longs to be apart.

Within my head,

My skull protects,

The brain, a library of thought,

It longs for knowledge,

Longs for truth,

Longs only to be taught.

Within my gut,

My skin protects,

The stomach hungers, groans

It longs for sustenance,

Longs for water,

Longs to subdue its moans.

Within my body,

My soul protects,

It asks for nothing at all,

It frees my heart,

Educates my mind,

And keeps my body whole.
