Anxiety

Anxiety

A Poem by _mal

And suddenly the colours are vicious and the sounds assaulting
stomach dropped

dragging breaths in around it

trying to climb up through my ribcage

cannot get out of my head

so focused, every element of existence competing for attention

 disconnected

if I'm going to die

i'm going to.

if you've had "it" - well, you recognize "it"... and if you haven't - few really know or understand how deeply and fully "it" impacts

Very Good. This has a very raw visceral feel that portrays the gut wrenching assault of anxiety. I' m sure many will identify with this. There is a hopelessness and fatalism expressed at the end that is very sad.
Well done.

I like your poem. Anxiety sucks.
Sometimes feels like the end.

Thanks fir getting it. Sometimes the only way to get through an attack is to accept it
There are moments when you just let go ( your last two lines); every time I free fall I say that to myself. Of course, this could also be a fUFC fighter entering the Octagon- Or your meaning behind the words :)

I suppose we can survive near death experiences but describing the moments of death takes an act of imagination. Your attempt seems authentic and is vividly written.
Well done,
Alan

~ i'm perpetually on the brink of being in this space... and yet i can never describe it as vividly and as poignantly as you have... ~ that acute sense of self awareness and the world around is so tough to write about but you've excelled in bringing all of that to life on this page...
