Vessel

Vessel

A Poem by _mal
"

Sucked in, spit out

"

We watch in silence

As Honesty kicks away his stool

He

Doesn't need us to know his reasons,

He'll finish it either way with

A rope and a broken promise

We lied that we would miss him

Watched as he drowned in her ocean eyes

Wrapped up in her open legs

Skimmed the surface of her broken heart and

wanted it

The filth her ribs are holding, hiding

And Love is in the corner

Burning holes into his skin

Watching the smoke brush up against

His smiling face

His broken neck

His swollen eyes,

Her fingers wrapped around his wrist

I feel very connected to your words. I remember love, and how it hurt. As the days, unraveled, I could see they'd be over soon. It felt like living through it and recording moments - memories to be recalled later. The sadness solidifies with time.

love the opening lines - the way he is caught in the grip of things and hung by love, no one being able to remove the noose of love and lust. she still has her fingers wrapped around his wrist at the end even though he is broken, which
shows the extent of her power. very fine writing.
