How should I know you love?

How should I know you love?

A Poem by aLittlePain
"

for my Nia...

"

I gathered all my treasure…
nights and days…
memories and dreams…
bare hills in summer…
flowers in the rain.
sun-drench…
green shadow…
birds' songs … and their ways
when the night lifts and it is day again.

All the small things that dwell in the tall field grasses
and have their miracle being under foot
all the incredible life that wakes and passes
with the swift breathing of Spring…
all these living things

So … for their wonder and their loveliness.'…
I built tirelessly far in my heart,
in the last deep recess
a secret shrine.
These things … these things were mine.

How should I know, that one already came
armed with a still white peace
wrapped in angel wings.

How should I know you love?

She giggled and said,

"I held his hand on his first day of school
when you wept in the car
and I whispered in your ear...
you did good today mummy..."

"You ask, how should I know you love?
Just whisper my name, and listen."

Your writings are always beautiful, Rach :-)
They always shine even more when they portray your motherly emotions. This poem is really touching and every line is heart felt. You are great and so is your Nia. Loved this.

Thank you Ana, I appreciate the visit.
i am easily lead to thoughts of such vibrant life ..in small spaces and grand seasons .. Spring is coming fast upon us isn't it!? :)
i am warmed by the whole thing but that second to last verse just kills me ...i believe whole heartedly in angels .. and for this mom to hear "you did good today mummy." is beyond a value .. something to line all the walls of the "secret place" your poem speaks of ..very much enjoyed this mom's perspective ..wonderful wonderful says i!

Soooo beautiful, Ray!
The love oozed from every word, and in so doing, fills the reader with its warmth and beauty. I love these lines: "You ask, how should I know you love?/Just whisper my name, and listen."

Lovely warm words.
Thank you Pam xx
A precious one like a precious stone or brilliant, sparkling in its beauty. I sound trashy again today...A very lovely piece, serene with bright images, tear provoking though but I'm too sensitive these days anyways.. Lovable writing, blessings, R.
