Ode To The Australian Girl

Ode To The Australian Girl

A Poem by Aaliyah Davison
"

No hate, but resentment.

"
First world countries are extraordinary to those of the third worlds
Strong, arrogant, and beautiful in words and deeds
An accent of the English language may lure you in
You caught feelings for her

Maybe a blonde, or maybe a redhead
Either way, I sense you love her
Do her words sooth your desires?
She most likely gives you what you plead for

Her body, nobody knows
Are her lips always flushed?
I'd say you know, as you know of mine
Two in competition, we are differentiated with time

Curiosity floods my mind; do you love her as you love me?
Uncertainty swarms around me, like on a hot and humid day
Irritated of her presence, although she may be far away
She lured you in, have I done that? Either way it's a sin

I resent her seductive accent, maybe her charm, too
This is all my imagination, but she does in fact exist
You have told me time after time, that she is of your age
Why am I so young? Come for me, instead

I'm fuming now, what if she is gorgeous?
She must hold something for you, hence you say there's "another girl"
That you have caught feelings for
Any things in common? Is that why you chose her?
I still am unsure

I have bitter feelings towards her
But she may cause me unintentional pain
What if she doesn't know of me?
Then that makes you the problem
But I will always love you, regardless of your actions
And that is where I fault

Australian girl, I commend you, for catching his heart
I, too, may have caught it, though
So does that make me the bad one?
No, if only you hadn't have met him
My world would be spinning with optimism

It is beautiful poem with nice choice of world. It also fills with real emotions. It has also some interesting questions about world, emotions and relationship. I think that the world of the feelings and emotions do not have a particular language. It has own geographical territory, in which anybody may touch each other through its secret language in a secret world. Desire always is boundless. It does not follow existence of so-called world. Who can say that you are existing in the world, it may be a world exists in you. Time does not differentiate to anybody, thus, people make differentiation to each other through their feelings and ideology. Someone has curiosity which tries to know each other’s secret world and its language. It may be possible that someone is not able to understand the secret world and its language, which reflects in your feelings.
It also may be that your beloved has his own secret world and language, and you are not able to understand that language. When you will understand his secret world and language, you both merged with each other. The question will not arise about sure and unsure, if you merge with each other. After that there will not be pain. Optimism is a positive thing but you both will have to take a step to enter into each other’s secret world.

I say what you feel you have depicted very well in this poem... Thank you so much, Aaliayah, for sharing it... :-)

It is my pleasure......
The doubts and resentment are so palpable in this poem. Why has he fallen for her? What is it that she has which I haven't.
And finally the regret. "If only you hadn't met him"
So many emotions visible here, anger, jealousy, envy.
Someone has written her heart out.

Thank you for the review, it's nice to see. I have, indeed written my heart out.
It's wistful. I can relate to the start. He must be quite the catch.
